Emma Marriage Hide & Fleece Leather Artist

EM 5

Emma Marriage.

From a young age, I have always had a passion for art, craft and creating, focusing on textiles and multimedia. I studied textiles and art, completing A levels and a BA in Art Design and Technology with Qualified Teaching Status. My degree pieces included 3D sculptures based on the beautiful cathedrals in Liverpool and it enabled me to follow my other passion of teaching, which is my full time occupation today.

Textiles and sculpture have always fascinated me and I developed a love of woolen felt and leather whilst at University. I love the possibilities that these two natural materials bring to make bags and functional accessories.

Each piece I create is unique, from the patterns I draw to the materials I choose. Where possible, I enjoy using part hides, stock lot and high quality surplus pieces in a variety of shapes and sizes, saving them from landfill and enhancing the individuality of each piece.

These creative processes are relaxing and a wonderful hobby as each item is handmade by myself and my industrial sewing machine, here in Herefordshire, with support from my fantastic husband and two children.
